Conference Fun…

Selection of items for a conference

It’s conference season for NFU Mutual, one of the big clients I work on for The Challenge Factor again. This year I’ve been working on engagement in Seminars as well as the usual input to structure of presentations, and for the first time taken on some logistics too – mostly in the form of shopping.

We didn’t get an owl in the end, but did consider it as a metaphor. The sonic screwdriver is standing in for a neuralyzer – which are no longer flavour of the month in costume stores, and that, if you’re into sci-fi explains the sunglasses too. Often the ideas for a theme for a presentation come from me, or from Geoff at The Challenge Factor, but this one was the presenter Andy S’s own creation – Men in Black becomes Marketing in a Box – a perfect tool kit…

The most exciting part of working on the conference this year has been working with a whole team of people who agreed that it would be perfect for Nick Turner, Sales and Agency Director to do his 45 minute slot with just two build slides which were on screen for a total of about 7 or 8 minutes only. Of course he is a particularly strong speaker, and there were some interactive voting moments as well, but working with a financial services company that is so happy to step away from Powerpoint on a regular basis is great.
